Candy Corn Crazy

Ahh...I can almost smell it now. One of those sweet smells of Autumn. CANDY CORN! To me, candy corn is as much a scent of Halloween as Apples and Pumpkins. And as much as I like the smell of it...I have to come clean and confess that I cannot stand the stuff myself. First because it is not chocolate, and secondly because it is way too sweet for me. But many of you wait all year for Halloween just so you can meal out on the stuff....admit it. Can you believe that Candy Corn is over 100 years old? It was invented in the 1880's by George Renninger. And October 30th is National Candy Corn Day for those of you looking for another excuse to partake. As it happens, one serving of candy corn contains only about 140 calories...not too bad. And if you are a fan of these sugar nuggets, then apparently you're in good company, because reports state that enough candy corn is produced in a year to circle the moon nearly 4 times if laid end-to-end. Wow...who would have thunk it?! But probably the most fun and versatile aspect to this particular candy is that it can be used as fangs. Everybody loves the candy corn fangs, because when you've finished impressing the children with them...you can just chew up your teeth and swallow em' down. Yummy!

I have to admit, I can't stand the taste of it either. Just way too sickeningly sweet! Still, I have been known to fashion myself fangs with the stuff!

Yeah...everybody loves the fangs. That, and using Bugles to make Witch's fingers...did you ever do that...ha!

Actually, I used bugles as "werewolf" claws! Good thing to know I wasn't the only one who played with their food to become a monster!

Yeah, I don't like to eat candy corn. I like to see it at the store (cause that means Halloween is coming), and I like the smell of it, but I won't eat it. I don't know anyone who likes CC. Kinda like marshmellow Peeps.

Isn't that the truth though?! And yuck to Peeps too. But they are harbingers of the season I suppose. I like to use them to decorate pies and cakes and cupcakes in the fall. And I also made a Halloween Bingo game once for my daughter's class party, and we used candy corn for the markers. Everyone thought that I was such a clever lil' witch, but honestly, I was just trying to be cheap...Ha! And Dave...Fangs & Claws Rule! :o)

I loves me some peeps and candy corn. I'll have to show you a picture of the pumpkin shaped cake Nahn made me decked out in candy corn and pumpkin peeps.

When I eat candy corn I like to eat it color by color. First I nibble off the white, the the orange and finally the yellow. However, I loathe the candy corn that ends in brown instead of yellow.

~D, you now have the distinction of being my only friend that I know who loves candy corn and peeps. You're so gross! Ha! Oh, and if I was FORCED at gunpoint to consume Candy Corn... the only part I would eat would be the brown part, because I would pretend it tasted like chocolate...ha!

Candy Corn = Halloween. How can you not enjoy the stuff? And peeps, gosh I could sit there and eat the whole box.

By the time I'm 60 I probably won't be able to stand the sweet stuff.

Candy Corn = Yucky!

I can't even explain the taste! If I had to explain to someone with no taste buds, I wouldn't know what to say!
