Great Jack O'Lantern Blaze

If you just LOVE yourself a good Jack O'Lantern, then imagine 4,000 of them all in one spooky place. That's right, I'm talking about the Great Jack O'Lantern Blaze in Hudson Valley NY. We had the grand opportunity to make it to this last year in October and WOW was it ever Spooktacular! My photos cannot even begin to do it justice. It is truly a spectacle to behold and one that has to be seen in person to be truly appreciated. If you are near NY city in the fall, combine "The Blaze" with a trip to nearby Sleepy Hollow Cemetery...the haunting grounds of the Headless Horseman.

Here is a better description from their web page. "The Blaze" runs through October on weekends. And check out their site because they have some great photos on there as well. http://www.hudsonvalley.org/content/view/195/198/

"Entering its fourth year, the tri-state area's biggest, most popular, and most exciting Halloween event is back in 2008 for 18 nights of family-friendly fun featuring more than 4,000 individually hand-carved, illuminated Jack O'Lanterns. Visitors meander through a woodsy, darkened, riverside landscape and discover a breathtaking, artistic display: dinosaurs, snakes, giant spider webs, ghosts, fish, mushrooms, flowers, clowns...all made of pumpkins! Enhanced by professional lighting and steeped in spooky music and sound effects, this must-see event is a delight for all senses!"

It just kills me that there isn't anything like this around where I live. Or at least within a 4 to 5 hour driving distance.

I'd love to have one of those around here. So what did your family think of the event? Was R. loving it too?

You KNOW we were all loving it. It was the PERFECT fall outing. I would highly recommend this to anyone. It has to be seen in person to really be appreciated. And I would go every year if I lived near there.
