Barbie the Good Witch

Okay...confession time again. I really dig Barbie dolls that are dressed up like Witches. I don't actually play with Barbies any longer, but I love to see them all decked out in their Halloween finest. The Mattel company usually puts out special Halloween editions each season. In fact, I just picked up this year's at Target tonight...a cute Witch with pink and black hair. In 2003 they put out Secret Spells Barbie that included potion bottles and such. The packaging encouraged young girls to be 'schoolgirls' by day and 'spell casting witches by night'. This soft core introduction to the occult and Wicca did not sit well with the Moms out there, and thus the Barbie was recalled. Then there are also some clever folks out there who have a hobby/business creating customed designed Barbies. These dolls can be really clever and quite elaborate. Here are a few of the ones I thought were pretty spiffy.

Hah! I bought the outfit in the first pic for my Blythe doll Riffy last year. I was mostly after the boots that came with it...thought they might work as Vampire Boots. I really didn't have time last year to get to using it (too labor intense on my own Vampire) but just last week I put those boots on one of my Blythes. It just so happens that she's doing a bit of Voodoo ha ha. You can't see the boots in the pic, but they're on her (girl with Marionette):

Reason behind the photo: Gio and Riffy got engaged which infuriated a few girls recently.

I wanted it to feel like the girls were bonding in their feelings so I made them all matching black suede like tops with kind of smiling evil faces. Poor Gio. It's hard being a Boy Venus.

Anyways, i like the little witch outfits too.

Ha Ha...that is AWESOME! I love that shot! Gio needs to be afraid. I think I'm the girl on the right with the red hair and the look of revenge in her eyes! ;o)
