A Witchy Invitation

Well it is almost time for our annual Pumpkin Carving Party. An event that I look forward to all year long. My neighbors, family and friends come with their pumpkins and families and we all eat, drink, carve and be merry! Some of them were hitting me up to do a costume party this year, but I decided to save that til' next year when Halloween falls on a Saturday. Plus, it's not really fun to carve pumpkins in your costume. But this year I am so excited about all my hard work on my Witch's Apothecary and the subsequent results...that I really wanted to give a little teaser in my invites. So I borrowed that fabulous old photo of the women dressed as Witch's having tea. I LOVE that image and tried to research it to see who held copyright if anyone, but I only learned that it was taken at an old folks facility in England. Anyway, I used it along with my Apothcary label design and made a Witch Themed invite. I thought it turned out pretty cute if I do say so myself. I also enlosed a little card inside that invites all the ladies to bring or wear a decorated Witch Hat and enter it in the contest. Winning hat will receive top honors from the "Black Hat Society" and a nice prize.

Very lovely invitations! Your party sounds like a spooktacular blast! :)
Here is a link to the witch image on Getty's... it has some information with it about the photo.

Hey J-W, you know what is weird about that image and what you posted? Well, when I printed out my invitation from my printer, I looked at it and saw a CORBIS watermark in it that I did NOT see while it was just on my computer. I had gotten the image from Gorey Details website....they offer it as a card. So I went to the Corbis website and looked at a gazillion pages of witch images trying to find it, and it was not among them. So I thought maybe the copyright was old or wrong. Now you say it is actually copyrighted by Getty. So I am even more curious why the image has a Corbis watermark if the rights actually belong to Getty. That is very peculiar, as they are big rivals. Hmmmm..... I wonder now who actually owns it and who doesn't. Oh well...either way, it's a fab image...one of my favs. Thanks for the info.
