So we celebrated the first official weekend of October by building a sinster looking scarecrow! He stands about 9 feet tall and looks down on you with an evil grin. His Pumpkin Head is lit with a red light that gives off an eerie glow, and his garments blow about loosely in the Autum Breeze. Just as we were setting him up in the front yard....a storm began brewing over head. This afforded me the most wonderful opportunity to shoot some real atmospheric pics of him. When Halloween is over, I want to transport him to a local corn field and shoot some more pics. He was a definite labor of love, as he took most all day to build. But I am very proud of him, and wanted to share his spookiness with you all. Hope everyone here is getting out and enjoying the Halloween Season with fun Fall activities!

That is way cool, my friend! I need one of those!
He is the best thing ever!
^_^
Oh wow! Weird! Great minds think alike, since this weekend I started assembling the components to make my own scarecrow, and the total design is VERY similar to yours!!! I may have to "tweak" him a bit, just so I don't seem so damned unoriginal (even if I'm the only one around here who would know! Lol!).
On the plus side, there are a $h!tload of branches and things lying around from hurricane Ike that lend themselves to scarecrow construction!
He really does look creepy! Fantastic scarecrow!
Well thank you my friends...I am rather proud of my creation if I do say so myself...a true labor of love.
And Gilly...like minds my friend...like minds! It is probably some psychic connection we have...ha! And don't worry about tweaking him to not look like mine. I got my ideas from looking at other people's cool scarecrows and went from there, borrowing bits and pieces. I can give you a couple of hints though. We used burlap for his clothes because it's durable, weather resistant and one of the cheaper by the yard fabrics. We used an 8 ft. 4x4 for the trunk or center post. And Rick bought a mailbox post holder thing that is metal and holds the 4x4 in it and it has a big stake on the bottom to sink it into the ground. And it securely holds this monster in place. He is over 8 ft. at his head and over 10 ft. at his arms. He's a giant, but that's what makes him so wicked cool!
Cool! Thanks for the tips, Wens!
Oh, and I've NO DOUBT we're psychically linked! I think all us cool Halloween folks are!!!
That scarecrow is great. There are lots of nice Halloween decorations, but it's difficult to find some that are just magnificent like this one, that puts you right in the atmosphere of the holiday and transforms your environment.
Aw...thanks Guillaume for your feedback. That is exactly what we hoped to accomplish by making him. And if he invokes the spirit of the season for all our friends and neighbors, then he has done his job! :o)
WOWWWWWWWWWW!
I wish you were my neighbor! That looks too cool Wendy. My compliments to you and Rick on a job well done!!!
