I already reported on the Fall colored M&M's, but Hershey offers up some tantalizing Fall flavors of their ever popular Hershey Kisses. Last night at Target...the first one that caught my eye was Pumpkin Spice with a cute Jack O'Lantern on the bag. Then I saw Candy Corn and Caramel. Now the Pumpkin Spice really peaked my curiosity as I had visions of chocolate on the outside with a pumpkin spice center which sounded quite yummy. But since we all know how I despise the taste of real Candy Corn...a Candy Corn flavored Kiss did not appeal to me in the least. And the Caramel flavor was nothing new, but did seem appropriate next to the other Fall flavors. But alas...I had to resist the temptation to buy the Pumpkin Spice kisses solely for the bag, because I noticed one that was slightly unwrapped and it was a pale orangy color on the outside. DRATS! That meant there was no decadent mix of chocolate AND pumpkin spice....but rather just a sweet pumpkin throughout. Blech! Although if you are a big pumpkin pie lover...they might be just what the witch doctor ordered. As I was searching for a photo of these to post, I did run across a very positive review of the Pumpkin Kisses as being a very tasty treat indeed. So I had the great idea that it might be worth an investigative experiment to buy a bag of plain Kisses and a bag of Pumpkin Spice Kisses and consume one of each at the same time. Then again it might just be disgusting. But in the name of chocolate and science....I just might do it. I'll report back with my findings if it ever transpires.

I cannot remember where I saw this but, I saw a recipe for a chocolate cookie or brownie, with those kisses baked in the middle. My first reaction was 'hey, they make pumpkin kisses?!' I will have to just buy a bag to taste them. I'll get back to you on that.
I'm waiting for the pumpkin ice cream to hit the stores! Yum!
count me in on popping these tasty treats in my mouth...holy moly...I am addicted to pumpkin anything. Yay! The season is starting!
Ha ha that made me laugh "in the name of chocolate and science". Go for it, girl! :D
Just yesterday I mentioned Hershey's kisses via Twitter:
"FYI: There is a Chocolate God because he dropped one silvery wrapped little piece of decadence on me today out of nowhere. :D"
I'm not so sure about the flavored Hershey's kisses though. The caramel ones are good when you have a craving for that combo but some of the others...well they are questionable.
p.s. I'm going to come back and see the reviews from the taste testers here before I get any
I bought some last week and they are great! I can't stop eating them. They are just like eating pumpkin pie IMHO.
The Candy Corn flavor is like super sweet candy corn and I do not like those AT ALL. I do, on the other hand, enjoy good candy corn that isn't waxy.
Okay...I see I am among good company and fellow chocolate lovers here...ha! I'm thinking that a warm soft brownie with a pumpkin spice Kiss baked into the middle would be scrumptious. Thanks for that idea Belle. And Sunshine you need to get a bag and come back and share your thoughts. Oh and hello Wendy...nice to meet a fellow Wendy, welcome to the Hallowe'en Tree, nice to meet you! And thanks also for your taste test reviews. That makes the second one I've read that says they are good, so Cat can feel safe to go ahead and purchase now! All praise the Chocolate God...ha ha! :o)
I saw these at Target yesterday too! I didn't purchase any though. :( I've been cheatin' way too much lately and need to cool it!
^_^
Okay...well I can officially report in now as my experiment is complete. I bought one bag of pumpkin spice and one bag of regular chocolate. The pumpkin spice most definitely tastes like punkin' pie. But I'm not a HUGE fan of that, so those by themselves would not do it for me. BUT....when you pop pumpkin in your mouth with one chocolate and let them melt together....delicious! A perfect combo. So these are worth a try if you actually like pumpkin...but even better if you combine it with chocolate! :o)
Okay, I bought some. It's not too bad, but yes, it does need chocolate or something to take the edge off how sweet it is. It reminds me of putting a big glob of frosting in your mouth. I think I will use the rest of the bag & make up a batch of brownie cupcakes, with the pumpkin kiss in the middle. I'll report back.
I've refined my recipe, it is now based on a 2 to 1 ratio. 1 pumpkin kiss to 2 chocolate ones. In other words...1 whole chocolate and half of a pumpkin one is just perfect! :o)
I love pumpkin pie as said before, and I finally got a bag...and it's "okay". It taste as if the pumpkin flavor is mixed with white chocolate, and I can't stand white chocolate.
So ~ I think I'll save mine for some baking which might mix well with some brownies!!!
