Pumpkin Boats

You know what I love about Halloween? PUMPKINS! My love of pumpkins is what started my love of Halloween all those years ago. There is just something magically special about those big round orange globes. And I love how they bring out the creativity in people. But just a step beyond creativity, you have ingenuity and quite a few leaps beyond ingenuity, you have eccentricity! And those fabulous traits have combined to find one of the most novel uses of pumpkins that I've yet to see. PUMPKIN BOAT RACES! Yep...you read that right....apparently Pumpkin Boat Races can be found not only in America, but in other parts of the globe as well. Now I do indeed wonder what spectacularly strange yet clever person, first thought to themselves one day...."hmmm, I wonder if I can find a pumpkin, SO BIG, that I could hollow it out, attach a trolling motor to it and navigate it around the lake in a costume"? I mean to a Halloween lover like myself...that is just pure genius!! And hence...the Pumpkin Boat races were born and the rest is history. Check to see if there are any in your neck of the woods or better yet...go compete in what has to be one of the most peculiar pumpkin competitions around. And be a scurvy Pumpkin Pirate on the not-so-high seas!

Aren't these just the most swell things you've ever encountered? Creative Genius at it's best.
