Vintage Cat Cartoon

Just found this old 1956 Disneyland video about CATS titled, "The Great Cat Family"! It is in 2 parts, each about 6 minutes, but it's really fabulous old Disney animation. I personally like Part 2 the best because it talks about Cats, Witches and the superstitions around them during the burning times. Some of the cartoon footage later resurfaced in the 1982 Disney TV special "A Disney Halloween." I dedicate this entry to my own black cat...Coventina! In fact, she sat on my desk in front of my monitor and watched it with me...ha! You gotta love CATS!

I love cats. I used to "have" a black cat when I was living in Liverpool. She was the cat of my housemate, but she had adopted me and spent a lot of time on my lap while I was preparing classes or correcting exams. She was a black cat too. Funny that this Disney cartoon present depicts rats so negatively, as they now produced Ratatouille.

I hear ya Guillaume...seems Disney changed their mind on the usefulness of Rats...ha ha! But you gotta love any old Disney animation, and sometimes the older the better in my opinion!

I remember this. I haven't seen the whole thing in a long time. Of course, I have the Disney Halloween on VHS, so I've seen the one part with the cat & the old lady about a thousand times!

Thanks for the videos. I live with two familiars myself and my mother just got a hairless cat. Talk about evil looking. It looks like a gargoyle but mom says she is the sweetest thing.

Good Evening Mr. Webcrafter...I just had to laugh at your comment because I have ALWAYS LOVED those hairless cats and the ones that have super short hair that is real wavy. I loved that they were totally ODD looking. But I wonder if they get cold without hair? Hmmmm...things that make you go hmmmmm! Good for your Mom for choosing a kitty outside the norm, I admire that! If you can ever get a pic of her, please post it!

I loved Part I the best, the part where the cat is on the pedestal being worshipped. :))))) ha ha ha

Hey Cat...I also like the very beginning of part 1 where there was the lion and the house cat. That house cat still believes it's superior to everything else regardless of it's size...ha!
