"I would rather sit on a pumpkin, and have it all to myself,
than be crowded on a velvet cushion."

Hey, the weather is COOL here today! By Joe there IS a Great Pumpkin! It's absolutely gorgeous and it's about time! However, who am I kidding here...this is Florida, and by tomorrow or the next day, it will be hot again. But it does teach us to be grateful for days like these. Yesterday we survived the farm...BARELY! It was smelly, it was dirty, it was rainy....but we did it.
Then we headed out to a Pumpkin Patch and picked the most fantabulous selection of pumpkins around. (Okay, yes there are not many REAL pumpkin PATCHES here, rather we go to farm stands, but just appease a Florida girl, and let me call it a Patch.) We got a dark orange warty one, and a grayish green one, and one that I can only sum up as variegated. It was white with beautiful markings on it of orange, yellow and green. When I look at the coloring, it reminds me of the trees in Autumn as they turn from green to orange to yellow. It's really beautiful. I will photograph these soon. And we even found a pumpkin that looks like a butt...ha! However I am disinclined to make one of those mooning scarecrows. I'd rather carve a little face into each side so it looks like twin jack o' lanterns or something a little less obnoxious...ha!
My kids have finally made their decisions on what to be for Hallowe'en. They've decided to be a French Mime and a blond headed Vampire respectively. And we may even get dressed up in costumes and attend Micky's Not So Scary Halloween Party next week. The jury is still out on that one though. Tomorrow we celebrate a birthday here, so this will be a busy weekend for me. Hope everyone gets outdoors and enjoys the most splendid season of all. I'm posting a few pics of pumpkins and gourds just because I love them so. Enjoy!

Beautiful pumpkins! Wishing Happy birthdays too! :)
That's pumpkin's heaven! Makes me want to carve Jack O'Lantern and eat pumpkin soup.
I can't wait to see your pumpkins...they sound gorgeous! Okay, well, maybe not the warty one...but the rest do. LOL
Love the kid's costume ideas. My son wanted to be a clown...so then Autumn did as well. So she's going to be a clown in pastels and he's going to be a clown who wears primary colors. :)
And....I GOT MY PACKAGE TODAY!! Yay!!!!
You had it fixed up so nicely. Thank you for all the little extras you threw in too. It was all so lovely, I hated to unwrap it! :) I did take pictures though...
Thank you again for the gift. I'm going to listen to it as soon as I get the kids in bed. :)
