It is only here in large portions of Canada, that wondrous second wind,
the Indian summer, attains its amplitude and heavenly perfection, -- the
temperatures; the sunny haze; the mellow, rich delicate, almost
flavoured air: Enough to live -- enough to merely be.
- Walt Whitman, Diary in Canada
Okay...so most of you know that I went up to New England a week or so ago to enjoy the beautiful season of Autumn that we do not have here in Florida. We visited 3 states and another country while on our vacation. And that other country was Canada, Montreal to be precise. We were just dying to break in our new passports, so we paid a visit to Montreal. With some recommendations by Guilluame of Vraie Fiction, a blog buddy of mine, we decided to head for the old part of the city called Vieux Montreal. This area was just lovely. The architecture is quite old and European in feel, while the streets are very quaint, just as you would imagine them to be in Europe. Montreal is French. The people are mostly French, and all of the signs, including road signs are in French. That was what made it so exciting for us. I love to experience things that are new and different, almost as much as I love revisiting places and people that are tried and true.
The day was rainy and cold, so we walked around and took lots of photographs, but I don't have the time to post process them all right now because I am working on a catalog project for a client. I did however, want to share a few that I took especially for the Halloween Countdown. What's a spooky lil' girl like me to do when she is in another country, far away from home? I search for signs of Fall and Hallowe'en of course....and guess what, I found some. Apparently there are fellow 'Spookykins' alive and well in Montreal. Hallowe'en is apparently not just enjoyed in America. These shots are not the greatest, as these were not ones I took with great care to be sold later for stock. They were in fact, primarily taken just to document the existence of Hallowe'en in Montreal, Canada. Most of the time I'd just snap them as we were walking by in a hurry. They are merely things that caught my eye, snaps of store windows and signs, and any place where I found a tell tell sign of something spooky, autumnish or halloweeny. Do you recognize any of the characters?)
