My Art - Halloween Greeting Cards

Okay....this post is to clarify some confusion and to fulfill a promise I made from an earlier post. Yesterday I posted an image of an 'Avian Witch' for lack of a better title, and named her 'Amethyst Ravenhair'. In my post I mentioned that she was the image I was working on when 'The Bride of Frankenstein' demanded to be created. I posted the 'Bride' in this post from earlier this month, you can see her here. But it was the streak in 'Amethyst's' hair that made me start creating the 'Bride' in the first place. Then later, I came back to finish 'Amethyst', but I decided to keep the streak in her hair, because I liked it so much. So yesterday's post of 'Amethyst', was not supposed to be the 'Bride'. They were two separate pieces, and the 'Bride' was an entirely different image all together. Hopefully that clears things up. :o)

As for the 'Bride', (and I mentioned this in the earlier post), I do appreciate the fact that she was a 'monster' and not officially green. I never harbored any intentions of creating an exact likeness, as that is not my style, nor is it my strength or preference. Rather I chose to create her in 'my style' of illustration work. And truthfully, that's Art boiled down to it's essence, as all art is subjective, and best left up to the interpretation of the artist and of the viewer. In fact, one of my favorite quotes on that very subject is from Oscar Wilde..."No great artist ever sees things as they really are. If he did, he would cease to be an artist." So, as promised, when I posted the 'Bride', I mentioned that later I would show how I took the image of the 'Bride' and used it for a Hallowe'en greeting card. I did the same thing with the image of 'Amethyst' as well, and then that led me to create yet a third card shown above. And that is what I'm posting today, the 'Greeting Card' versions derived from the originals. This is how I attempt to get more mileage from my creations. And I also wish each of you a most 'Hair Raising' weekend! :o)

Am I missing something...do you have an Etsy shop that I'm not seeing? Are you selling these - because I would buy them!

Hi Wendy,

Sorry this is a little late, I got the Moon Rays CD the other day.

The music is wonderful. I love those old Halloween songs. And your artwork is fantastic.

I also really liked the way you wrapped the CD. Especially the tag. I'm a scrapbooker and I'm going to hang onto the tag and possibly use it on a page in the future.

Thanks again for the great give-away.
