Hallowe'en is Coming....

Okay....so I have the MOST spooktacular news to share. Just two days ago, we went to the movies to see Ice Age 3D at the mall. And much to my utter delight....the Hallowe'en Store directly across from the mall was not only back for the coming holiday, but had already begun stocking the store. The sign is up, but I don't think it's quite open yet...woo hoo! ( This photo is not MY Hallowe'en store however. I posted a photo of mine on this blog last year because it had the BIGGEST inflatable Jack o'Lantern EVER created, sitting out front.)

So Michael's always starts early for the crafters, but this is officially the earliest I've ever seen any full blown Hallowe'en store open here in Florida. They are getting a jump start on things this year it seems. And I know that bringing out seasonal stuff this early really irks the 'you know what' out of a lot of folks...but it thrills me to pieces! And my friend Suz from California reported that her Hallowe'en store was also starting up out there. So from Florida to California...Hallowe'en is coming coast to coast! And you really should start looking early....because the best stuff goes fast and is usually not around closer to the holiday itself.

And speaking of Hallowe'en....it seems there are more and more 'Pet Costumes' available now as well. And although I am all for the pets participating in the festivities...I am rather shocked that anyone can get their cats to wear a costume. Obedient dogs yes....fickle cats NO! But I did find this image on-line, and it obviously proves that someone's cat, somewhere...is a complete freak of nature and will actually abide being decorated. Unless of course this feline has already been taxidermied...which frankly, I find easier to believe. But more power to the cat and its owner, as I just love this photo. To the rest of you who are thinking of bedecking your kitties out for Hallowe'en....good luck with that!!

No, my cats would have none of that. I've been meaning to hit the craft stores to see if any Halloween stuff has hit the floor yet. I usually reserve all my excitement for Target. I can't wait to see what they roll out this year. And the shirts are usually out by mid August!

Hey Belle...yeah right....like my cat would sooner claw my eyes out and watch me die a slow death than to let me wrangle her into a costume. And I am quite certain, by the looks of your Phibes, that he wouldn't play that either...ha!

For me it's a toss up between Target and Home Goods now. It seems Target is always the last one to haul out their goods though. But you're right about the tees...we do need to start keeping weekly watch at Target for those...and the Halloween/Craft mags start coming out soon too I think.

I love this time of year. Every time I'm out near a store or mall, I'm checking for Halloween stuff and for the first Halloween/fall magazines :)

Really nice. I usually don't like much out of season shops (like Christmas shops which are opened all year long), but somehow I do like to prepare myself mentally for Halloween...all year long. Well, to a degree, that is. As I once told you before, my brothers and I we used to play "scary games" during all summertime, and we also had our "Halloween game", which we prepared during the summer holidays, being more frantic in August to forget school was going to start. In Chicoutimi, the city where I grew up, we had a shop called "Tout en party" (it still exists, actually), which we used to go to for special events, such as murder parties. They usually always had things for all sorts of celebrations and holidays, including a good number of Halloween articles.

*dancing for joy* Yep, the Michael's by me has a whole aisle already for Halloween/autumn stuff. Love it!

I'm thinking the cat must be sedated first and then wakes up to find themselves clothed. It's the only explanation I can find.

Guillaume that shoppe sounds wonderful...murder parties....how fun! I love you and your brothers sense of fun and imagination and 'spookiness'! :o)

And yes Dracenea....I think you're right, it must be sedation...ha!

And HS....please sure to post, if and when you find any seasonal catalogs...I always eagerly await those as well. I checked this weekend at both Borders and B&N but nothing yet. Can't wait!

Well, I guess it's only fair that Halloween gets to have a few things show up early, since stores start putting up the Christmas decorations in mid-summer (a few years ago my wife and I walked into a Macy's in August to find it completely decked out in Christmas regalia! I'm not even exagerrating here!)

Still, the Halloween stuff just seems to creep in a bit at a time, not really hitting full swing until the end of August/beginning of September. This time of year, my mind really starts to wander to the Fall, and I have to force myself to concentrate on the here and now of things! There is just so much more fun to be had in the Samhain Season!!!!

Me too Gilly...once July 4th is officially over...I have Autumn Brain until Nov. 1st. This anticipatory time is the best of all!

I feel the same about mid August/beginning of September. My mind is on Halloween. We used to play various "horror" games when we were kids, either the "Halloween game" (my brother playing a demon preparing the big night on Earth) or Dracula, or something of the sort.

How fun! the picture of the store you posted is out here by me!! What a small world! I LOVE the Halloween club and the best part is....it's open ALL YEAR round!!! I go there when I need a Halloween fix to perk up!

I have always wondered that about cats that let you dress them! My cat won't even wear a collar! I have MS friends that post all kinds of adorable kitty couture, but I have no idea how they make it happen. I have had cats my whole life and only one would let me put little flower garland crowns I would make on him.

BTW, am I the only one that gets excited when I see the back to school sections up at the stores? Whenever I see that I know we are almost there w/ the Halloween stuff!

Guillaume...your childhood memories sound wonderful. No wonder you like Hallowe'en! :o)

And Suz, how funny that the store I posted is out by you. Did you notice that I referenced you and your Michael's in my post here...ha! And yes, I too love the school supply section for the same reason...well, that and the fact that I am also an office supply/stationary nut...ha!
