I call this photo.... "Ghost Stories".
Don't you think that is an appropriate title?
This is an image that I took in a corridor of an antiquated library in a sleepy village of upstate New York. Local legend had it that Eliza Watkins, (Mistress of the town's Mayor), had been murdered in the library by his scorned wife many years earlier. And that Eliza's ghost is still spotted on the nights of the full moon....roaming the library and moaning in agony. A skeptic myself...I did not believe any of the local hype while photographing there. But I did have a very uneasy feeling that made my skin crawl. And in one particular row of dusty old books, the shelves felt like they were closing in on me, and I was certain that I saw blood stains on the moldy old carpeting. I also smelled a smell that I can only equate with the smell of rot and decay, but I figured it must have been the old books. The air in this section of the library was cold and almost suffocating. And I even dismissed what I at first thought was the touch of someone's hand on my arm, because frankly, there was no one standing near me. And although I didn't ever see any ghosts while there....I had to admit that it felt like 'something' was present in that library other than myself. I still didn't believe the tales after we left, UNTIL.... I had the film in my old camera developed. It was only then, that the spirit of Eliza Watkins materialized on film and made me a true believer in the paranormal.Okay....so I just made all that up because the title was perfect for this image and because I thought it just begged to have a good ghost story attached to it. Truth is, this is an image that I did actually shoot, but I shot it on a digital camera, and used a wonderful Ghost Photoshop Brush to add my ghost hostess. I just adore Photoshop Brushes, they are so much fun to play with! And who doesn't love a good Ghost Story? Speaking of 'ghost stories'.... if you want to read more, just check out this great website I found called Halloween Ghost Stories, and get your 'fright' on tonight!

Ghost Photoshop brush? *sigh* I still have so much to learn :)
Oh, you REALLY had me going there for a minute!
I REALLY need to get photoshop! Just the idea of being able to make your own "ghost" photos thrills me to no end!!!
Ha Ha!!! That was a fantastic ghost tale and I was reading this thinking - "WOW!! How come she never mentioned this before - it's too fantastic!" lol!!
Nice image in the library though. She looks like something I would never want to encounter in this life or the after life.
HS...make sure to google 'free photoshop brushes'. They are the best things ever. You'll figure it all out as you play with it...trust me!
Hey Gilly and Sunshine....thank you for stopping by and at least pretending to believe my tall tale...ha ha! I wish it WERE true! Well, then again...maybe not! I am quite the scaredy cat. Autumn will be here soon my dear friends! :o)
Like the gill man, I thought for a moment that you were really talking about a ghost encounter myself.
I love ghost stories too, especially old fashioned ones. I strongly recommend for you to read "The Oxford Book of English ghost stories" and any short story by MR James, which are always brilliantly written, paced and especially very scary.
What a delightful story! Great job on the pic. :)
I must check out that Web site.
Ooh thanks Guillaume for the ghostly reading suggestions. Ghost stories are lots of fun, but I admittedly get kind of scaredy when I read them...ha!
And thanks Drac...definitely check out the sight!
