Cauldrons and Cameras

"There's a little Witch in every Woman."
Do any of you remember my Great Grandmother, 'Briar' RavenWood? I posted a story about her here last year. You can learn more about her by reading my "Witch Boots" post if you'd like, for a little background. (Just click on the 'Witch Boots' link above.) Great Grandma Briar was a 'magical' lady to say the very least. Anyway...I was going through an old photo album of hers a few months ago, and imagine my surprise and utter delight to discover where I acquired not only my 'witchy' sensibilities, but also my love of photography and art.

It seems that my Great Great Grandmother 'Hazel' RavenWood was also a photographer back in the day. Apparently she was herself rather camera shy, and like me, she typically preferred to be the one behind the lens instead of in front of it. But this one time she agreed to be photographed next to her beloved Camera and her beloved Cauldron.
There are very few photos left of Great Great Grandma Hazel. And in those days, it wasn't proper or safe for her to be seen out and about in her Witch hat. So I am grateful that she allowed this one image to be snapped so that I would one day know what a wonderfully witchy and creative woman she was. The family rumor is that GG Grandma Hazel had a rather 'wicked' and 'playful' sense of humor and just loved to tease....so they claim that I come by that honestly as well...ha! I'm just glad cameras aren't that size today! :o)

** A note here...this is crunch time for me this week. Our Pumpkin Carving Party is this weekend and we have lots to do still. So I will do my best to get a post in each day, but my commenting on blogs may suffer this week, so I apologize in advance.

What a wonderful find! :0)
Such a clear photo for being so old. She was a lovely lady. Funny how certain traits always seem to skip a generation....
Have fun getting ready for your party!!
