We slept in late today, then got up and made a big breakfast of Cheesy Scrambled Eggs, Maple Syrup Sausage and Cheese Grits....yum yum! Remembering that we had picked up a couple of new Hallowe'en Videos at Target last night to add to our collection...we decided to make it Breakfast and a Movie. First up on the big screen was Rankin/Bass's Cult Classic "Mad Monster Party". We got a new Limited Edition DVD with some extra features. Wow, this was made before I was even born. The video was literally 'spooktacular', and I can't believe that I've never seen it before now. I know several of you who have it and love it, but as always, I'm late to everything including the Mad Monster Party. Anyway, if there is anyone else out there besides me who lives under a rock and hasn't heard about this gem before now....you MUST add it to your DVD collection. It is made with the same stop-motion animation as Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer, and is a bargain at just $9.99. And when you consider that it is a 90 minute film, you realize what a monumental task it must have been to make it. Check out the trailer below to enjoy all your favorite monsters rockin' out to Little Tibia and the Fibias at the Mad Monster Party. Big Fun!Next on the playbill this morning was a new R.L. Stine GooseBumps called "Attack of the Jack-O-Lanterns". My kids like the GooseBumps movies. I find them a bit juvenile and not really well ac
ted. But they are still fun. This one however, had the most sinister looking cover on it, that I just could not resist. They each have 3 episodes, but I only watched the one from the title. What I enjoyed about it is that it was all about Hallowe'en night. The neighborhoods were decked out for Hallowe'en like a Hallowe'en town, and there were Pumpkin Head people attempting to abduct the kids and make them 'Trick-or-Treat' forever. Of course I was thinking to myself that sounds totally wonderful instead of horrifying, but then I'm weird like that. You can pick up these titles and other assorted Hallowe'en releases at Target. Hope everyone had a good weekend.

It does sound awesome! What a great idea. Sounds like a new autumn tradition! :)
I've had a homemade dvd version of the Mad Monster Party but I saw that dvd at Target and upgraded my copy over the weekend. I think it's a great movie that makes use of ALL the classic monsters. I didn't have the Mad Monster Breakfast this week since I'm bach'ing it, for 3 weeks. But I did have a great big pot of chili going all weekend. One of the great things about Fall are the comfort foods.
Loved the Mad Monster Party. I only saw this a couple years ago. Thanks for the heads up at Target I have to get over there soon! Thanks!
I was going to pick up that Goosebumps DVD based on the cover alone. Sounds like perfect lazy-day fare.
now that sounds like fun. i haven't had a morning like that since my early single 20's!
Ohhhh, cheesy grits!! How I miss them so much. I haven't been able to find them here in NS. I cooked them all the time when I lived in Dixie. Your story makes me wish I was there watching the movies too.
LOL - I would Trick-or-Treat forever too! Great way to start the day!
Love Mad Monster Party! A great flick that is SO delightfully weird!
I love the cover to that Goosebumps DVD! I may buy it for the cover alone. I'm with you though...I think I'd be offering myself to the Jack O' Lantern people! Trick or Treat forever? Yes please!
Well I should have known that a bunch of Hallowe'en Heads would love the Mad Monster Party as much I did. And most of you would join me in Trick-or-Treating forever too...go figure! Ha! :o)
Hi, I remember that episode of Goosebumps! Its one of my favs as like you say the town is decorated for halloween and the candy bags are huge! ha,ha when I was younger it seemed the perfect town... mind you I live in the uk and we dont decorate our houses or streets hardly at all...no wonder I loved the episode..lol
