Open Letter to Mischeivous Martha

Oh Martha, Martha, Martha! You teasing lil' temptress you! As much as I love you and your minion of fab designers, I must say that your trickery is just not polite. It's really uncool to trick those of us who love Halloween into buying yet another one of your Halloween 'Been There, Done That' magazines by putting a brand new cover on it and calling it a Halloween Handbook. Yes, you almost got me again with your same old tricks. How many times do I have to fall for that before I quit taking the bait? Either come out with an entirely new mag or don't put one out at all next season, capiche?!

Actually...I must confess, I didn't fall prey to your sorcery this yea
r, because I was given a swift 'heads up' from a fellow Halloween Head who warned me there was nothing 'new' about this 'new' magazine of yours. I did of course have to thumb through it myself just to verify, but she was right....just a new cover.

So I left the bookstore and drove to Michael's with a sc
owl on my face while cursing you under my breath....only to discover that they just put out your new Halloween line of stickers, papers and goodies. And all it took, was just one look and you were back into my good graces. There were so many nifty items I had a hard time choosing. (Did I mention that I am addicted to paper goods, stationary and office supplies....it's a really strange illness that dates all the way back to my childhood. So for me, going into Michael's is like a Rx Drug addict hanging out at the Walgreens Pharmacy.)

So anyway, I thought I'd post some of the uber cool stickers I scored. There were basically two themes working there....a 'Vampire' line and a 'Sort of Retro' looking line. Can't decide which ones I dig the most. But I can think of a lot of fun projects to make with these. As for you Martha? You are nothing but an 'ENABLER'!

I've borrowed a few of those Martha Halloween magazines/books from family and I've never really been impressed with them. There's some truly impressive looking creations in there, but nothing that I really see as being something I'd like to recreate or try. These days, you can find pretty much anything online anyways.

Glad it turned out well for you. My joy at seeing Martha's Halloween Handbook on the shelf immediately turned to dismay when I saw it was just a "best of". :/

I can't wait to get to Michael's to see what's new! I didn't bother with her mag. this year it was a repeat so why bother. When I clicked to see your blog post it said it didn't exsist but then I clicked again and got here. Not sure why glad I found ya must be a ghost in the machine!

Good to know, I would have bought Martha's new Halloween mag. I have no Michael's or Hobby Lobby near me.
MSL web site used to have cool Halloween projects from her magazines.

I almost did get sucked in this year with the magazine but it was priced here in Canada at $10.95 and it was my hubby's turn to buy groceries. NO way would I have him pay for that and then I saw there was nothing really new. Thanks for the label information I will check out Michael's. - WG

Love, love, love these stickers you found! I must go to Michael's and get some for myself. I stumbled upon your blog a couple of weeks ago and I absolutely love coming here. It's so nice to know I'm not the only one who goes a little crazy for Halloween!

I am ashamed to say that I fell for it. I went out and bought Martha's 'Handbook' before I read the review. [hangs head in shame]
Next time I shall wait for the reviews to come out.
Guess I'm just a little anxious for Halloween.... :0)

I was gifted the "new" Martha mag/book - so I didn't have to shell out for the same-old. But I do love a shiny Halloween cover!

I also refer to "them" as "martha minions" lol. I bought so much of her halloween papers from michaels last year, I am trying to control myself and not go so I won't know what I'm missing. But I really need an embroidery needle, and some fall beady springs, and some more funkins, and martha halloween cupcake liners.... oops guess I HAVE to go ;p

Yeah...you have to careful with the Halloween mags. One year Country Living put theirs out with 2 different covers and I stupidly bought the same magazine twice and didn't even realize it for awhile. But I can vouch for the stickers and stuff...Martha usually does a good job in that department keeping it fresh and new.
