Creepy Contacts

They say "the eyes are the windows to the soul"...so what in the name of Beezlebub do these eyes have to confess about the souls to which they belong? Forget costumes this year, who needs them when you can freak everyone out with just one glance. Creepy Contacts can make you the most feared demon in the room this Hallowe'en. Now me thinks some of these 'Props for Peepers' are downright scary looking, while others appear somewhat fake, or even photoshopped perhaps. Then there are the ones made by special effects artist Kevin Carter who works on major Hollywood blockbusters.

Having loved horror movies as a kid, Kevin had big dreams of becoming a make-up artist so he could work with special effects. But he ended up employed first at his Father's contact lens business. Flash forward a few years and he now combines the two jobs and makes a pretty penny off his custom designed Creepy Contact Lenses that sell for the equally terrifying price of £500. Wow...way to turn your spooky lil' passion into a bloody good business huh? It takes Kevin about two days of painting the contacts with a fine brush before they are ready. And although they appear opaque on the outside, they are actually clear when looking through them from the inside out.

Now I don't know about y
ou guys, but I don't wear glasses or contacts. But there was this one time that I thought it would be really cool to have blue eyes instead of green. So I borrowed some colored contacts that my Mom was trying out from her eye doctor and set about putting them in. Well let me just say that the end results were scary indeed. First was the fact, that my brain would NOT actually let my eye look at the finger with the contact on it as it was attempting to poke me in the eye to put the contact in. This is a major feat, that I still to this day, cannot comprehend how it is that people manage to do it.

I tried every which way I could for almost an hour, to put that contact forsaken torture device in my eye, and NOTHING worked! UNTIL.....the contact somehow folded over on itself, stuck together and lodged itself up in some far away crevice of my eye socket that I did not previously know existed, and from which I almost needed surgery to have it removed. And when that evil contact from hell did finally manage to get dislodged from the back side of my eyeball where no foreign objects should ever be...I was left with a swollen, bloodshot, scratched and tearing eye that looked every bit as horrific as any of these Creepy Contacts. So needless to say, as carnally cool as these 'Peeper Props' appear to be....I will have to leave this costume option to the professionals.

But if you are normal, (unlike myself) and could actually perform the seemingly simple task of putting in Creepy Costume Contacts....which ones would you opt for?

Husband has a set of the red eyes...kinda creepy. Oh and of course we have the yellow contacts for our "Micheal" dancer for the dance team when they do Triller.

As for me....not been brave enough to try them yet....especially the spider web ones. Just NOT going to happen.

Cheers!

Well if and when my eyesight goes, I will have no choice but to wear glasses after my one miserably failed attempt at putting contacts in, left me scarred for life...ha!
As for the ones I dig...I kind of think the flames are pretty cool. But again...best left to someone far less optically challenged than myself! :o)

I got my package yesterday as well! Thank you yet again!
I think I would have to go for the flames or the black out ones.
I've never tried putting in contacts but I would probably have a similar level of success, lol.
I can't even get an eye exam without flinching at least 4 times.

I once had a pair similar to the first one. I wore them when I went as Darth Maul for Halloween. I had HELL getting those things in my eyes at first. Fortunately, they were soft, so they didn't cause any damage to my eye, but they were damned uncomfortable at first. Like you, I have some sort of mental block against putting things in my eyes (heck, I can't stand putting eyedrops in), so it was a BIG deal when I finally managed to get them in!!!

Unfortunately, I misplaced the contacts, and didn't find them until almost two years later when I moved. At that point, they had dried up, so they were useless. All that grief, and I only got to wear them one night!!!

I've always wanted a pair of cool contacts like these. I did wear a contact (left eye) for awhile when I was in high school, but it was just the visual correction kind. And I had mixed success getting it in & out. I would hate to spend a bunch of money on cool ones, only to rip them right away. Which is probably what would happen. :(
