The Witching Woods

"Double, Double, Toil and Trouble;
Fire Burn and Cauldron Bubble."
~ Shakespeare "Macbeth"

So it is REALLY COLD here in Vermont today....but I'm not complaining because that is what we come up here for.  We went ziplining at Mt. Sunapee in New Hampshire yesterday and it was fantastic!  We ziplined in Smuggler's Notch last year and loved it, but Sunapee was even better, 8 ziplines, 3 rappels and 2 sky bridges!  We liked it so much we are contemplating heading to Gunstock Mountain today to check out their Ziplines and Aerial Obstacle Course!  So I apologize for lack of time to comment on blogs,  I'll have to catch up when we get home!  And apparently my 'Scheduled Posting' feature does NOT work because nothing is posting like it's supposed to....ugh!  This new blogger is giving me fits!

So today's post is just a re-posting of some vintage Witch images I found on a Tumbler site.  Unfortunately, I lost the site before I could make a note of whose it was so I could credit it.  If anyone knows I'd love to add it to the posting.  Now I've seen a LOT of Witch images on-line, but these were new to me, which is rare.  What I don't know for sure, is if they are truly vintage or just made to look vintage via photoshop or even a planned photo shoot.  But what I do like to imagine...is that they are real.  A real Coven of Wise-women from long ago perhaps?  There they are in the Darkling Woods, Conjuring up some mighty Potent Brew!

But the question is....what kind of Brew are they bubbling, and for what purpose will they use it?  I think it's an interesting question to ponder amid this 'Season of the Witch' that we find ourselves in during the magical month of October.  What do you think?  What do you imagine these 'Witchy Women' could be Brewing, and why?  Are they 'Good Witches' brewing up herbal remedies for the villagers?  Or be they 'Bad Witches' conjuring up some 'Black Magic' for more nefarious purposes? :o)

Well, the photos are definitely staged. It's hard to tell how old they are, but I suspect they were taken recently. The bracelet appears to be somewhat modern and the hats are also a give away.

However, I'm all about imagining what could have been. Let's say, I'm wrong and this is an authentic Pagan clan who have taken to practicing out in the seclusion of the deep wooded forest. These are definitely good witches and they are brewing medicine for a sick village child that doesn't stand a chance unless they help him. They are risking their lives for his, because the prophecy tells that one day he will grow up to be the most power sorcerer the land has even known and he will free the people from the tyranny of the Dark Lord.
