Slow Death by Sauna
Well thank you all so much for your birthday wishes. My birthday itself was good....but the rest of this week has pretty much sucked figs! So I apologize for not being on here to write, nor comment, but I think you will understand. You see, the heat index here in Florida was 110 degrees today, with the humidity at almost 90%! Can you even fathom how freakin' hot and humid that is? Well you probably don't REALLY know, unless your air conditioner picked yesterday evening around 10:00pm at night to quit working. You know....AT NIGHT.....so that you cannot get a repairman until the next day!!!!!
But hey, we survived the overnight hours....and Mr. repair dude moseyed his unsympathetically slow arse on over today around 2:00 in the afternoon, so that the house was a gigantic SAUNA! He promptly fixed some small part for $135 and went on his merry way. And by golly, after an hour, we actually cooled down to a whopping 83 degrees inside the house....woo hoo! But sadly, that is as good as my day got.
Because from that point forward, it preceded to get hotter again. Yep, his repair didn't work, but by that time he was all the way across town, almost 1.5 hours away, with several clients still to service. He gave us several things to try....all of which ended as EPIC FAILS! And then he reluctantly said he would come back, although it wouldn't be until late. So we were going to go get our camper and park it in the driveway, so we'd at least have some air to sleep in. But since he was coming back to fix it right this time....we held off on going to get it. Fast forward to 10:30pm when he calls to inform us that he's not coming back tonight, and maybe he'll be to us first in the morning, or maybe he'll just go to another client first and then get to us some time again tomorrow!
WTH?? We are baking like clams in a pressure cooker....and he's NOT going to come back to FIX what he took our $135 to FIX earlier today, before he left us here to die a slow miserable death by sauna?!!! And to add insult to injury, he's going to put another client in front of us tomorrow? We have every fan we own turned on high, and it's 86 degrees and climbing at 1:00am this morning. The only thing you can even do...is sit right under a fan on the couch and remain VERY still. As long as you don't move, and vigilantly refrain from exerting even one iota of inertia.....you can actually be comfortable enough not to expire from heat stroke. Forget cooking, eating, typing, or moving! And my office, which is at the back of the house.....is the HOTTEST freaking room in the house of course. It's about 89 in here! It is taking every ounce of energy I have to type this.....and I am sweating just sitting here typing. Have I mentioned that I HATE Florida?! Well I do! We are all so lethargic from this relentless heat that it's like being on sedation drugs. Even the animals are just laying around sleeping all day.
So depending on what this joker does tomorrow....we may be going on an impromptu camping trip until someone fixes our air conditioner. That is IF.....IF we have not expired from this earthly realm in a big ball of spontaneous combustion before the sun rises! If I don't come back here within a week's time....please notify the authorities to search our home for ashes. In the meantime....I'll just leave you with some creepy cool B&W photos. They are so atmospheric and perfect for Halloween, and they help me take my mind off my misery! I hope to be back on shortly! **(I have no copyright information on these images....wish I did. The trick or treaters look to be from the movie "Trick or Treat", not sure. So if you took it, let me know so I can credit you or remove it upon your wishes.)

A belated happy birthday! I don't like at al heatwaves and being stuck in a hot house. My brother was in Florida recently, he found it really too hot.
Oh my goodness Wendy! You poor thing! Those nasty repair peeps can be total jackholes!! Nothing worse than being so hot you can't breathe.
Happy Belated Birthday my sweet Friend!! I hope your air gets fixed quick! LOVED seeing the images you just posted....super creepy!
Love,
LuLu~*xoxo
Oh Wendy - I am so very sorry to hear all that happened with the AC. I do hope the repairman gets there first thing. Ours is so-so at the best of times so I know a bit of what you are feeling. The only think I wonder is why I haven't lost a single pound in the heat. At least then I would feel a little better. I could say I am slimming.
Sparkles and Ice Bubbles (hugs are too hot)

You poor thing!!! I can sympathize - it has been like a blast furnace here! Two days in a row of 112 deg temperatures! Sheesh! I can so relate to the phrase, "I'm melting..."
And repairmen can be so unsympathetic! I think they need to drive around in vehicles that don't have a/c so they can better appreciate their customers situations.
I'm thinking a bad review for your repairman should be in order!
A little Trick 'r Treat should fix you up just fine, too! Always makes me smile.
Ugh! I'm so sorry to hear that's going on. It's been in the 90's here, with a 'Real Feel' (with the humidity) of 101º. If it's that bad here, I know it's got to suck in FL. We don't have air conditioning, but this year we were offered a window unit, and we gladly took it. I couldn't get anything done. All I could do was sit around and sweat. And yeah, forget about cooking anything. Now that we have the A/C, I've been staying indoors as much as possible because of the heat wave. I just keep telling myself it will let up soon, October is just around the corner.
Here's wishing your AC gets fixed real soon!
Hey hot lady no pun intended! Ok I missed your Birthday so Happy Birthday a little late! I hope it was filled with magic. Ok I really feel for you and I know you're a good Witch so don't go melting on us! Love the b & w pics yes the one on the bus is from the movie Trick R Treat!
Make sure you keep yourself hydrated. That's the problem with heat: it quickly gets uncomfortable.
But superb pictures.
Well. I step away from the computer ever so briefly and look what happens. I miss a birthday. Happy Belated Birthday! Hope your air-conditioning is functioning again by the time you read this. Gotta love apathetic/incompetent repair people. I often think, with an instruction manual and a wrench, I could do a better job than many of the "professionals" I've encountered.
OMG!!! You poor thing! I know how hot it is....it is hot here too and we were without AC for almost a week a month or so ago when we had a storm.....we usually have a week or so without power every summer from one storm or another. I hope you get your AC fixed soon!!
Happy Belated Birthday!
Where are you in FL? I'm in Orlando. Our AC was broken for a week last year during August, and it was actually cooler to sit out on the porch! I soaked in the (cold) tub a lot that week!
So sorry i missed your birthday Wendy :( I hope by now you have your airconditioning fixed. The b&w pictures are awesome!
Hugs

I completely feel your pain! We went through the EXACT same thing earlier this summer. It was HELL!!!! (or, at least, felt like it!). It was in the 90's, even at night! I was tempted, many a night, to just go soak in an ice-cold tub for the night! We also had jackhole repair people, who weren't even slightly in a hurry. Geez! Hope it all gets sorted out for ya soon!!!
Hey Wens! Our central air decided to stop dead in its tracks one day a few weeks ago. Luckily, my repairman got here quickly the next morn & fixed it lickety split! Your repairman sounds like a real beaut! He needs a swift kick in the arse!
^-^
Happy belated birthday, and I am hoping you have AC now! I grew up in the Deep South without it, and I do not know how we survived, especially with that lovely tin roof......
