There is nothing I enjoy more than stumbling upon wonderfully Magical and Creative things by sheer accident and/or dumb stroke of luck. So tonight I went on YouTube in search of something and there I found a samp
ling of "recommended" videos that I can only presume came courtesy of the YouTube marketing department. How Meg and Mog is the story of a Witch (Meg), her black striped Cat (Mog), and their friend Owl. With 3 of my favorite things represented (Witches, Cats and Owls)...I knew I'd just have to love it. Apparently, Meg and Mog was a children's book series written by Helen Nicoll, that was first published in the 70's. It was later made into an animated pre-school series, which aired in the UK in 2003. It's a cute little cartoon, but what I enjoy most, is the very basic animation style of Jan Pienkowski. Meg is a well-intentioned Witch dealing with the not-so-good results of her spells. Mog is her talking striped cat, and the 3rd character is a talking Owl. The actual story is somewhat weak, but considering the intended audience was pre-schoolers, I guess I can't complain.
The Meg and Mog books appear to be available on Amazon, and the Halloweeny art really gets me in the mood for the upcoming season. I am posting Episode 1 for your viewing pleasure, and a link for Episode 2. Happy Hump Day! :o)Episode 1

"moggy" is Brit slang for cat. Hence Meg's cat's name, "Mog".
That is one cute cartoon. My daughter used to love "The Worst Witch" series on tv. It ran in the late 90s.
How cute!! Love it! Will have to share with my granddaughters...I know they'd enjoy it. Thanx for sharing! :0)
Quite fun! Good for the little Halloweeners!
Ah,you know I am a sucker for anything with kitties!! Thanks for sharing.
And thanks Ali - for all my UK travels, never heard that "moggy" was slang for cat. I learned something new today!!
Cheers!
Need to watch this tomorrow (now it is late). Cats and owls are among my favourite animals, and with a witch? What's not to love?
Oh my goodness, that is adorable! I've never heard of this before either. I love the background music, it's perfect.
Awesome Wendy! My grandson will have to see this :)

Ahhhh Meg and Mog was one of my favourite books as a kid. My mum and dad used to take us to the library and I'd run to the kids bit and see if they had any of the books in.
I loved it (well actually I still do) :-)
