The Witch Is In!

Hello Hello! Is anybody out there? Probably not. I have not been here in quite some time and boy have I missed this place! A while back I posted that 2011 was shaping up to be a very busy year for me and I was NOT lying. I mentioned that I may or may not be around here for awhile due to some traveling. Well, I went forth and traveled, much to my dismay, and FINALLY, I am at a place where I can relax a bit and get back to the things I love the most....like HALLOWEEN!

I sure did miss everyone here. And I learned a few things this year too. Like that when I come here, I am lulled into a false belief that the world is just one big happy Halloween Town filled with like minded peeps who live all year long with Halloween visions dancing happily in their creepy lil' skulls. But I am here to testify that this is most certainly a 'false delusion'! In fact, I am more convinced than ever, that we Halloween Heads are quite possibly {shudder}....a minority faction!

You see, I have had to spend the bulk of this year with a brand new group of people I'd never met before. And it pains me to report that not ONE of them shared ANYTHING in common with me AT ALL....with the exception being, that our kids play the same sport. 6 months spent with people who totally did not 'get' me, and whom I totally did not get! They weren't artistic or creative, they had no sense of humor at all, (especially a warped one like mine), they had no sense of imagination, no child-like wonder left in them, no insatiable, morbid curiosity, no magic, no spark.....NOTHING! They weren't even particularly nice, let alone did any of them appreciate the wonderment of Halloween.

I was utterly alone! And I realized that with all the bad things the 'internet' holds, it also serves a great purpose. It brings like-minded people together in ways that could never have happened before it's creation. If it weren't for the internet....I would truly be the isolated artist and weirdo who loves Halloween. I would believe that I was the only one of my kind...I'd probably fall into the darkest depths of despair. (Maybe that's how Poe and Lovecraft felt.) But alas, thank the Great Pumpkin.....the internet was invented and sites like these exist. And I can come here and know that I am not alone. There really are other Halloween enthusiasts just like me in the world. Unfortunately, I have come to believe that none of them actually reside in the state of Florida however. But beggars can't be choosers, so I won't complain.

Our travels are now over for the year, unless we hit up New England in the Fall. So I can get back to creating and writing and reading the blogs that I love so much. They say absence makes the heart grow fonder and I can attest to the truth of that. I've missed this place! And seeing as how it is almost July, there is no better time to come home to my virtual Halloween Town and my lil' haunted home beneath the Halloween Tree. From here on out, the Countdown begins for me. The stores will start getting in the Halloween merch soon, and we'll all have lots of things to share. I can't wait! I did unearth some interesting things during my hiatus however, so I saved them and will begin posting them now. They may have already been covered by others at this point, but I'll share them anyway just in case. I sincerely hope everyone has had a great summer so far, and that you're all kicking it into high gear for the upcoming Halloween season!

Hey welcome back! It is great to see you blogging and commenting again! We Halloween lovers are certainly a rare lot. I celebrate it more on the internet than here.

Strange that you mention Lovecraft, I mentioned him too on my blog recently.

Glad to have you back! I totally get what you are saying. I am pretty much alone in my love for horror in my family. And my kids like Halloween, but not at my level of adoration.

So, yeah - glad you're back! :)

Welcome back Wendy! Sorry to hear you had to spend so much time with such dreadfully boring (otherwise known as dead) people. But now you're back among your friends who get your sense of humor and love of Halloween.

Great post- couldn't agree more!

My 'hood is filled with dry and uninspired accountants, mortgage brokers and soccer mom types. Not even remotely a haunter in the lot.
Amen for the interwebs!

Oh you gals and guys are the bestest of the best! You don't even know how happy I am right now to see that you are all still here, and still eagerly anticipating the upcoming Halloween season. It makes the countless hours I had to endure with those 'other' people almost worth it. I have missed everyone here so much, and I am so glad to be back. Big virtual Halloween hugs to you all! :o)

It does feel like coming home when you can spend time with others who love Halloween.

Hullo Miss Wendy! So nice to see your broom back in it's rightful corner.

Yes you are a weirdo, but in the nicest possible way. Aren't all we Halloween enthusiasts like that? I know what you mean about planning for the new Halloween season. I'm trying to come up with ideas for a possible Crypt Keeper 2011.

Happy Haunting!

Hi Wendy!! I'm so glad to see you back amongst us "Halloween Heads". We've missed you here in our Happy Halloween~Land !!!! :0)
I can totally relate as to how hard it is to be around people who do not share our love of Halloween. Most disturbing....
Been a crazy year for me ~ busy beyond belief! With many extreme ups and downs! But hoping that the remainder of 2011 improves!
I'm looking forward to your future posts...they're always so interesting!
Happy Haunting!

You know there is know one here that really gets me either. I like junk, coupons and dream about Halloween all the time. Why can't I find just one common person in real life? I swear it's harder to find a decent friend than to marry a man! ha!

Oboy * Oboy * Oboy * Oboy * Oboy!

It's mid-September now, but I had to search back for your first post of the year. Last week I was in Target and bought my first Halloween related item: some Soft Soap. I was out of soap, needed some, and there it was in the Halloween section silently sending out vibes: "You know you want me..." and into my basket it went. ;)

I also got a flat black gittery tree in the dollar section ($2.50) that slides together--my mini pumpkins and baskets are waiting for me to make the time to put them on it. >> I will put photos in my blog soon.<<

Hurray that we are upon the season of creativity!!! I'm also happy to report that I have *already* done some work on my pending costume (on August 21...wooohoo). My schedule is going to be unpredictable soon so not sure if I'll have time to pull it off, but the intention has been started. Had a Garage Sale yesterday and was talking Halloween and one guy had been Dr. Evil of all people...

Also, I saw my first pumpkin on the vine a couple days ago and I have yet to free it from my camera, will blog that as well. I'm going to try to do better this season with blogging the sights of Halloween and inspirations. Going to probably pull out my Halloween items from my storage unit soon and get decorating. Who cares if it's early, right? :D

Gio goes crazy every year in YoVille when Halloween arrives, so I will post some photos of his house for people to see as well (like his Haunted Pirate Room).

Looking forward to all your posts and everything you find, thanks so much!!!
