I just love to see what clever ways folks come up with to carve their Hallowe'en pumpkins, don't you? But these may just be the most wickedly weird and wonderful Jacks I've ever seen. These fiendishly fabulous carvings were created by the mondo talented sculptor Ray Villafane. And I dare say these gourds have been elevated to the state of fine ART!
Ray's macabre Jack O'Lanterns are not for the faint of heart. And some are downright scary thanks to his incredible attention to the darkest of details. And it's this fastidious attention to detail that I think horrifies me most....because once you've marveled over them, the 'grave' reality sets in. For you see, these grotesque gourds are merely fleeting works of Hallowe'en ephemera. Those are no 'Funkins' you see there....no, those are REAL pumpkins, and I can only assume that eventually they will return to the dirt from which they grew. ALL that work, and no way to preserve it!!! *gasp* (Do you think he can make molds of them before they rot? Surely he MUST!) Check out more of Ray's incredible work at his website Ray Villafane's Studio.
Oh how I wish I had a few of these to set out on Hallowe'en night! :o)
