Well having posted on how much I loved the 'Halloween Eggs' in Peter Cottontail, Becca of Magikal Seasons suggested we create some of our own and post them. And although it wasn't in my original plans, my spookiness got the better of me. Like Dr. Frankenstein before me, I was driven to create a monster....or two or three.....okay FIVE! Once I started, I was a madwoman akin to Mr. Hyde and I just could not stop! My kids were thrilled, and each picked which one they wanted me to make for them. They dyed the eggs their chosen color, and I put on the finishing touches. My daughter who is in full blown Twilight vampire mode, chose the red Vampire, and my son wanted a smiling Jack O' Lantern. I attempted to give it a menacing scowl, but my son made me change it! Drats! And of course I did the Witch Pumpkin for me. But then after the kids went to bed, I decided I needed a few more members of my Motley Crew, so I added Frankie complete with scars and screws and a Ghostess with the Mostest!I took a cue from Martha Stewart and used regular food coloring dye this year, and we used painter's tape for the areas we wanted to cover and leave white before dying. We also used it for the yellow areas as well. Then I cut up electrical tape to make the black features. When I was done, I stuck them in a seed starter tray which was the perfect place to house them for display. Anyone who knows me isn't surprised that I'd make Hallowe'en Eggs at Easter, but some folks just think I'm plain weird! Oh well, you can't please everyone! I liked my creation so much, I have decided to replicate the process on paper mache eggs and sale some in my Etsy store. As soon as I get it open that is! Hope everyone had a great holiday!

Awesome! My kids, completely on their own (and without knowledge of this blog) did eggs of Frankenstein's monster, Dracula and The Gill-Man!
My daughter also did her own "emo" and "skater" eggs, so not all of them were monster themed, but I thought it to be an amazing coincidence after reading your blog about Peter Cottontail! Great minds....
Those are fantastic! I looked for my wooden ones couldn't find them. I'm bring up my Halloween Trees today so I hope they are in that box. I bet your kids loved these. My favorite one is the pumpkin witch love the hat! :) Please let us know when you open up your etsy shop. If you make these in paper mache they will fly out of there!
Wendy, they turned out fantastically well! They are all so cute, but I especially like the little witch one, of course!
I like how you figured out a way of injecting some Halloween fun into a Springtime celebration!
Those are adorable! Just love them. Especially Frankie!!!
BTW - you are the winner of my DVD giveaway, head on over to my blog for details! Congrats!
Cheers!
Gilly...not surprised that our paths travel the same winding road so often. Great minds indeed! ;o)
And Becca...thank you for planting that little kernel of creativity in my head.
And Suzie, I agree with you and Becca the Witch is my fav too of course! I might try to do her more like a Witch instead of a Jack O' Lantern Witch....not sure.
And what's that you say Oh royal Frog Queen? I have won something?! Well woo-hoo, I NEVER win anything, so I am stoked! Thank you so much. I will head over there now! :o)
Egg-actly what Easter needs! They look amazing.
