Do the Witches Draw Nigh?

Hey...well life continues to be crazy busy, thus my posting and commenting time has been pretty much scarce...sorry! And this is just a real quick little post to share something that I thought was pretty 'wicked' cool. As an avid Moon and Star Gazer....I take delight in any offbeat happenings in the night sky. And apparently....Hallowe'en is drawing ever closer if the stars are any indicator....do the Witches draw nigh?

Well a telescope in Chile has captured a photo of a speedy nebula in the sky. And this nebula just happens to resemble a 'Witch's Broom'! The brightly glowing filaments seen in the photo were created by the violent death of a star that took place 11,000 years ago, according to European Southern Observatory officials. The brightest part resembles a pencil which is why they named it "Pencil Nebula NGC2736". But they also couldn't dismiss the very obvious fact that the formation as a whole looks like a traditional 'Witch's Broom'! Yes...it must certainly be a sign that Hallowe'en is on its way. :o)
