Gather round oh ye children of the darkness...for I have a Tale to share with you. No, not merely a Tale...but a Tell-Tale! Yes...the tale of "The Tell-Tale Heart" to be precise. I can't imagine there are any true Hallowe'en Heads among us, who fail to count Edgar Allan Poe as a favorite author and poet. So you denizens of death will most certainly delight in this most macabre animated short film of Poe's, infamous short story, "The Tell-Tale Heart".
I discovered this frightful little find on You Tube, and the poster had this to say of the 1953 film... "The story, told by a mad man, has a dark visual with a perfect work of narration by James Mason. It is a UPA Production, and was the first cartoon to be X-rated (adults only) in Great Britain under the British Board of Film Censors classification system."
This is an oldie but goody, the narration is tops....and it's a definite must see! Enjoy!

Arrrgh! They've blocked YouTube at work, so I have to wait until I get home to watch this!!! How the heck am I suppossed to properly slack off at work when they block a website full of cool videos? ;-)

Yeah, this is a great animated short film. I just discovered it a couple of months ago.
One thing about youtube is the constant removal of videos. I keep a youtube playlist, and several of the ones on there have been removed. Sometimes they come back & sometimes they don't. I know this 'Tell-Tale' short is suppose to be on the first Hellboy DVD (2-Disc edition), along with some other animated shorts. I have the 3-Disc Director's Cut, and it's not on that version. Or else I haven't found it yet.
Hmmm...that's good info Belle. I just loved this one. And I stumbled upon it by complete accident while searching for something else Poe related. I keep all my Halloween vids favorited on YouTube...so I'll have to go back now and see if any of them have been deleted.
A lot of Disney stuff ends up being removed from youtube. Skeleton Dance & Hell's Bells are two I've had to replace on my list. I try to convert the files for my ipod, so if they are ever removed I still have a copy. This is the case with the Toby the Pup 'Halloween' cartoon. I think that account was cancelled, so it's not available anymore. I still like to keep stuff on my list even if I'm unable to replace it. I will try and track down a DVD bootleg or official release of each cartoon when I can!
